Departure Adventures

You start getting ready two hours before your desired "leave the house" time, yet somehow, it always comes down to the wire.

 Picture this ...

With just 30 minutes left until you need to be in the car with baby strapped in and diaper bag packed and loaded, you still have to finish up your hair and apply some light eye makeup. Easy right? Especially since he is asleep in his "my little lamb" chair.

Ten minutes goes by and you are almost done your hair ... and then, it begins.

~ insert loud crying here ~

You know he is hungry which is why you have a freshly expressed bottle of breast milk ready to go for when this moment came. Only problem is, it takes at least one hand to hold a bottle and you kind of need both to finish getting yourself ready.

Now, you move to the kitchen, bottle in one hand feeding baby, eye lash curler in the other applying eye makeup with the help of a portable mirror (yes, it has a stand!).

He finishes eating with just three minutes left before you need to leave, and you've somehow completed your look as well.

You pull out of the garage just a few minutes past your desired leave time - only by the grace of God - and giggle to yourself because you remember thinking just a week before he was born how you'd never be able to just pick up and leave the house at the drop of a hat again.

This was a snapshot of my mid afternoon yesterday. The joys of parenthood just keep adding up.
